Industry-Leading Performance and Functionality

O2 Modeler(tm) was created for your engineering demands. Each system brings you the functionality and ease of use with which Silicon Graphics has become synonymous. You receive the benefits of an industry-leading system architecture and RISC based CPU, combined with graphics technology to bring you the best in system performance.

Annotator

IRIS Annotator(tm) is a revolutionary new multimedia application expressly designed for sharing ideas and information about 3D models. IRIS Annotator lets you annotate 3D models using the full complement of Silicon Graphics® digital media tools, then electronically mail the annotated models to others for review. IRIS Annotator is the ideal collaboration tool for any discipline producing 3D data, including engineering, manufacturing, architecture, life sciences, and geosciences. You can find the icon for Annotator on the Applications page of the Icon Catalog.

NFS and PC-NFSd

NFS is a network service that allows users to access file hierarchies across a network and treat them as if they were local. File hierarchies can be entire filesystems or individual directories. Systems participating in the NFS service can be heterogeneous. They may by manufactured by different vendors, use different operating systems, and be connected to networks with different architectures. These differences are transparent to the NFS application. For more information, see the NFS Q&A page on Silicon Surf.

PC-NFSd is a UNIX 'deamon' used by PC based NFS clients. It provides user name and password authentication for networked PCs which have installed NFS client software. PC-NFSd can also be used to provide printer spooling. A few of the PC based NFS client software packages expect to talk to the PC-NFSd software on UNIX before mounting UNIX disks. If you plan to use NFS on PC's you may want to install PC-NFSd on your SGI NFS server. For more information, see the PC-NFS Q&A page on Silicon Surf.
